Orpheus of the South Seas

This work was a theatrical outdoor pilgrimage that took place on Okinoerabujima, an island of elevated coral reefs in the Amami archipelago. While making stops at five venues on the island in turn together with the participants, a performance based on the drama of Orpheus with improvised readings, dance, and music was held. During the play, I gave performances featuring a cavaquinho, a Portuguese string instrument,, as well as a spatial presentation that took place on Okidomari Beach, the last stop on the pilgrimage. <D.W>

In this work, light in an aurora pattern synchronized to the sound is projected through an analog technique using aluminium foil, against a background of contemporary music made up of trumpet and piano. <D.W>

Kalamatoria 00

This work causes several hundred globes of light to fly into the air. These transparent balloons contain translucent ones, which in turn contain chemiluminescent bodies. The Hong Kong dancer alumimihifumi gave a performance while the balloons took off one by one. These points of light that continually change position trace the outlines of a space whose form is also in constant flux. <D.W>
