The large cube outside was equivalent in volume to 200 human beings — an expression of the minimum number of people thought to be necessary to avoid accidental extinction and protect the human DNA. The smaller cube on the inside represents an accumulation of 7.3 billion cells: actual cell specimens are also enclosed within. This large cube that represents a minimum number of humans and this small cube that represents the maximum potential of the human race together make up a four-dimensional cube. <D.W>
外側の大きな立方体は人間200 人分の体積に等しく、偶発的な絶滅を回避し、ヒトという種を保つ為に、必要と考えられている最小の人数を表しています。内側の小さな立方体は73 億個の細胞の体積を表しており、細胞の標本が封入してあります。ヒトを維持するための最低限を表す大きな立方体と、全人類の最大限の可能性を表す小さな立方体が、四次元立方体を構成しています。
金沢21世紀美術館の企画にて、チームによる制作。
