This was one of Chida’s works from his 2019 show held in Nagano. Inside the pitch-dark room, an extremely thin, sparsely netted fabric was suspended from the center part of the ceiling, so that the form resembled a mountain range. Linear laser-light slowly moved upward and downward along that form, while the light also created contour lines in midair. Curved lines in the soft light danced in the air as they continued to appear and disappear. (T. N.)
暗闇の中、極めて薄く、密度の低い布が室内中央に、山脈のような形状になるように吊り下げられている。線状のレーザー光がその上をゆっくりと上下し、空中に等高線を描き出す。柔らかな光の曲線が宙を舞い、現れては消えていく。
